Personality: Cheerful and optimistic, Goku lives each day with great enthusiasm and a childlike wonder for all things new and unexplored. He has a voracious appetite, which reflects the gusto with which he embraces life. (Some say he is making up for the 500 years he spent without eating or growing hungry). He has an inquisitive mind and can be a fast learner when something is of particular interest to him. He claims that he’s “not very smart,” which is true insofar as he is not an academic or a cerebral thinker. This does not mean that he lacks understanding of his surroundings. Rather, he is more intuitive in his analysis, and trusts in his instincts over intellect.
He is deeply compassionate and believes in the best in people. Despite having spent 500 years in solitude, he is outgoing and friendly, and will not hesitate to initiate conversations with strangers. He’s definitely a “people person,” who likes being around company and works well in a team. His teammates are important to him, especially Sanzo, and he will openly admit that it feels “awkward” being on his own after having spent the past years in their constant company.
Honesty is perhaps the trait that distinguishes him the most from his teammates, who tend to be much more streetwise and guarded with their emotions. Goku will the speak what is on his mind truthfully and without shame, where others might be too proud to do so. He wears his emotions openly on his face, so he is not very good at poker or other forms of deception. He can be trusting and naïve, especially around those who are skilled at hiding their duplicity.
Goku loves to laugh, and has a playful nature that might manifest itself in a goodnatured jibe here and there. He’s got a competitive, fighting spirit that takes great enjoyment in combat, and he gets excited when he’s up against a particularly strong opponent. He takes injuries in stride (it’s part of his occupation), and is always challenging himself to greater heights.
Being imprisoned on a lonely mountain top for hundreds of years has left deep emotional scars that are still healing. He has exhibited unreasonable fear of things such as snow or shortening his hair, because they bring back traumatic memories of the cold desolation of his imprisonment. Beyond all, he fears losing Sanzo, the man who saved him from the prison and is – like the sun – the center of his universe. He is still working out his dependency issues, and has shown maturity and a stronger emotional state in the latter chapters.
As far as personality flaws go: Goku can be exceedingly stubborn when he’s put his mind to something and feels he is in the right. He’ll press his point bluntly without skirting the difficult issues that might be better handled with delicacy. He can be annoying and argumentative in some situations, especially if they involve Gojyo, who is like a big brother to him.
He also gets carried away by his stomach sometimes. He’s not a selfish person by any means, but he just might finish off the last cookie in the jar…because it’s there.
Abilities: Goku is small but packs a hefty punch, even in his human form. He has great power and stamina and can hold his own against any youkai. The author describes him as having excellent reflexes and heightened senses, like an animal. She also says he has heightened sensitivity to spiritual presences. He often fights with his magic staff called nyoibo that he can summon at will and manipulate to whatever length he desires. Nyoibo can also split into a three sectioned staff. He’s been shown to be an innovative and tenacious fighter with the ability to face numerous enemies at one time over a variety of terrains.
In his true form, Goku lives up to his real name (Seiten Taisei), which means “Great Sage Equal to Heaven.” His strength and stamina multiply several fold, and he unleashes a great power that can destroy almost any enemy. In this form, he has the ability to call upon the earth’s energy to rejuvenate himself and heal his injuries (even fatal ones), which renders him practically indestructible.
Seiten Taisei is a formidable opponent against almost every human, youkai or minor deity he's come up against. He can knock down a stone wall with a flick of his wrist. He can move very fast and leap up onto a roof top in the blink of an eye, even when gravely injured. He has reflexes so quick he can catch a bullet in his palm or teeth without injuring himself. He has a very animal-like fighting style in this form, so he doesn't utilize his staff or any martial arts techniques, relying more on his claws, teeth, and overall brute power. He can beat up Kougaiji with ease, and we can imagine that as the prince of youkai, Kougaiji is one of the more powerful youkais in Saiyuki.
However, Seiten Taisei is certainly not invincible. For example, Hakkai in his youkai form was a pretty equal match, with both characters being able to inflict major damage on one another. I think most of fandom would say that Hakkai is special, because he is the only youkai in the story who used to be human. (He turned into a youkai after committing 1000 murders). Presumably, his powers are therefore much greater than that of an ordinary youkai.
And Seiten Taisei was no match whatsoever against the Merciful Goddess, who grabbed him and took him down in one quick swoop. She knocked him unconscious by banging him against the floor, and probably could have killed him just as easily.
Obviously, his healing powers are an incredible advantage in any combat situation, so one has to kill him or knock him out before he has the chance to call upon the earth's energy.
Foremost, his source of great power does not come without a price. When the diadem is removed, Goku loses all sense of himself, becoming a purely instinctive and vicious predator who will unflinchingly destroy friends and enemies alike. The Seiten Taisei delights in carnage and will not stop until he has killed everything in his path. The Merciful Goddess, and to some extent, Hakkai, are the only ones who have been able to overpower Goku in his true form. In truth, the only way to really stop Seiten Taisei is to restore his inhibitor and bring him back to his human form. The diadem can only be recreated by someone with divine power. (The Merciful Goddess and Sanzo both have this ability). The sudden loss of power when the inhibitor is placed back on him renders him unconscious, and he will fall into a deep sleep for several hours.
Goku has transformed into Seiten Taisei several times throughout the story - both by accident and on purpose - but he has always regretted it later. His inability to retain control of his mind during his transformation is a great weakness, and one that can lead to serious consequences. He will not remove his diadem voluntarily unless absolutely necessary.
Unfortunately, that does not preclude accidental breaking of the diadem, which has happened a few times in his life. Each time, he was under great emotional duress: fear, sadness, and despair. These are psychological weaknesses that stem from his emotional attachment and dependency on those he loves, and his great fear of being left alone.

Why?: I've played this character for a long time, so I thought it might be fun to shake things up a bit and play a memloss version. I also want him to transform into something that isn't Seiten Taisei, lol.

Power: Intangibility (phasing): In vessel form, Goku can pass through physical matter. Whether he can pass through people will be done with permission of the other player. Particularly dense objects will require more exertion of power. Anyone with physical contact with vessel!Goku can also be phased. Obviously this is kind of limited, since a sparrow is tiny. This also means he can let bullets or weapons pass through him/his god, but he has to have good reflexes to do so.
